Walllpaper, a long-derided decor trend associated with endless trips to Grandma’s house in your youth or bargain-priced fixer-uppers that have never been fixer-upped, has come roaring back in recent years. There are a remarkable number of fresh wallpaper designs out there today that will make you go, “Wow, cool!”
And yet for every one great wallpaper there still exist at least 10 tragically ugly ones.
As proof, here are some some of the ugliest wallpapers we’ve ever seen. Check ’em out, if you dare, if you want a laugh or some pointers on what to not put on your walls.
1. Somebody’s watching you
All those eyes staring at you … this is just asking for nightmares.

2. Too much toile
There may be a place for toile, but when it’s on the walls and the furniture, it’s just too much. Our eyes hurt just looking at this.

3. Patriotic overkill
If you want to make America great again, don’t ever install wallpaper like this.

4. Woodsy wonderland, or weird?
Clearly these homeowners were dying to take a dip in a bubbling spring in the middle of the woods. But since that couldn’t happen, this was the next best thing.

5. Why not wallpaper the ceiling?
This flower wallpaper is pretty elaborate as is, but to put it on the ceiling, with a scalloped edge? In a bathroom? Who knows what they’ve got planned for the shower curtain.

6. R-rated wallpaper
OK, we get that this is going for an “arty” look, and nudity is by no means the shocker it was in the past. Still, though: What would guests, dates, and (god forbid) grandma think if they came by to check out your place?

7. Leapin’ leopards
Leopard print on, say, a coat is passé, but you want to put it on your wall? In a bathroom?? As a background to some nicely folded white towels??!!

8. Country gone wrong
We get this is going for a “country” design, but when that extends to the ceiling, well, it unsettles our stomachs. And while we love bacon as much as anyone, isn’t it a little odd to advertise this on your wall?

9. In a land far, far away…
This would make a beautiful view if you were looking out a window, but it’s just depressing when papered to a wall. Particularly with all those stripes up top.

10. Two bad wallpapers
Why have just one bad wallpaper when you can have two? In the same home. Same room, even. How is that possible? They don’t match at all, and they end up more horrifying than the sum of their parts.
